The Insurance Institute of Canada (“IIC”) owns, operates and maintains the website, www.insuranceinstitute.ca, including all content thereon. By accessing, browsing or using the site, you accept and agree to the following terms and conditions.

Use of Materials
The materials on the website were produced or compiled by the IIC for the purpose of providing members with direct access to information about the programs and courses offered by the IIC and its Institutes and Chapters.

Without the prior written permission of the IIC, you may not use this website for purposes other than your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not frame, capture or reproduce the IIC website or any part thereof, without our prior written permission. You cannot use or access the website for any purpose except as expressly provided herein.

The use of the IIC website is at your sole risk. It is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, non-infringement or third party rights and fitness for a particular purpose.

The IIC makes no representations or warranties that access to the website will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it is secure or free of viruses or other harmful material, or that the information provided will be complete, accurate or timely.

Ownership of Content
The logos and trademarks of the Insurance Institute of Canada and the CIP and FCIP designation are protected by copyright law. They may not be downloaded, used or reproduced without our written permission.

All of the content, designs, graphics, pictures, illustrations, software, artwork, video, sound, names, words, titles, phrases, logos and marks displayed on this site are owned by the IIC, its Institutes and Chapters, sponsors, licensors, or any other party accredited as owner, and are protected by copyright, trademark and intellectual property laws and treaty provisions. 

Information Protection and Privacy
The protection of individual privacy is a fundamental objective of the Insurance Institute.  We have strict procedures for protecting the privacy of our members.  The IIC collects only the personal information required to enable us to serve our members efficiently and fairly, while complying with federal, provincial and territorial legislation.

TheInsurance Institute does not use or disclose personal information for reasons other than those for which the information was collected, except with the consent of the individual or as permitted by law.

The Insurance Institute will only collect more specific personal information, such as your name, phone number or e-mail address if you voluntarily complete an online form, submit an e-mail with this information or register to use a secure portion of the website.

Member's personal information is not disclosed to anyone other than IIC staff who may need to access the the information to carry out their responsibilities. Any further disclosure of the personal information you provide will be in strict accordance with our Information Protection and Privacy Policy.

It enables us to monitor the usage of our website and improve its performance.  Cookies help us remember who you are when you login, so that we can offer and provide more personalized content. The cookies on our website may save passwords and/or preferences for you so that you will not have to re-enter them the next time you visit.

Cookies help us monitor user traffic and demographic statistics related to the website.  This is information such as the number of users, page views, location you are coming from, average time spent on the website. This information helps the IIC determine when to update or change content.

The cookies we use do not allow us to identify individuals. They are used to save preferences, to compile information and to assess and improve the efficiency of the website.

Google Analytics
The IIC also uses Google Analyticsa web analytics service provided by Google, Inc., to measure traffic patterns to, from, and within its website.  Google Analytics collects standard Internet log information and tracks visitor information in an anonymous form, and compiles statistical reports on site activity.

No personal or identifying information is recorded or provided to Google. As well, Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.

The IIC uses the statistical reports that are generated by Google Analytics to help us make our Site more useful to visitors. Reports are made available only to Web Services and other designated staff who require this information to perform their website maintenance and enhancement duties. Google Analytics is not used to track visitor behavior on the IIC website.

Prohibited content
The IIC prohibits the posting of content that is offensive and likely to expose an individual or a group of individuals to hatred or contempt on the basis of race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age or mental or physical disability.

Members are prohibited from submitting or posting any content that contains pornography, vulgarity, obscenity or sexually explicit content, hate speech, threats, harassment, personal attacks, threats, insults or defamatory statements.

Content submitted to the IIC website by members must observe the following guidelines:

  • Posts should be respectful and courteous;
  • Comments should be posted in English or French, as appropriate;
  • Content must be relevant to the topic;
  • Members agree to avoid repetitive posting;
  • Posts should not include personal information such as phone numbers or e-mail addresses.

If you violate any of these guidelines, the IIC will not accept further content or submissions from you and may suspend or block your access to the website.

IIC reserves the right to monitor the website electronically from time to time and to disclose any information necessary to satisfy any law, regulation or other governmental request, to operate a website or any of the services properly, or to protect itself or its users in accordance with the Information Protection and Access Policy set out above.

By using this website, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold the IIC harmless against any claim or demand that might be made by any third party for damages, losses, costs and expenses arising out of or relating to any posts or content that you have submitted, or your breach of any of the terms set out above.

To use certain features of the IIC website, you may be asked to register. By registering as a member, you agree to provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself as prompted by any registration form; and to maintain and promptly update the information you provide to ensure that it is accurate and complete.

By registering for the IIC website, you will need to select a username and password to complete the registration process. You will be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of this password and account, and are responsible for all activities that occur under your password or account. 

It is important to ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session. 

You must notify the IIC immediately of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security. The IIC will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your password or account information. 

Governing Law 
IIC members can access this website from all Canadian provinces and territories, as well as from other countries. The terms of use are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal copyright laws of Canada and apply notwithstanding your residency or physical location. By using the website, you agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Province of Ontario.
